~ WHO IS XZOTIQA?? ~

Xzotiqa (Exotic-a) was born in Tampa, Florida in August 1983. She is a songwriter, singer, poet, and spoken word artist. Bringing such a diverse and versatile selection to the table, Xzotiqa’s sound cannot be compared in the likeness of any current artist, as she relates about life experiences and the world as she sees it. Her unique style is more than evident as she takes poetry overflowing with doses of reality, and mixes a soultry voice with strong lyrics.
Xzotiqa grew up singing gospel music and can first remember performing live on television at the tender age of 3. Noticing her gift of writing at a very early age, she began formally writing poetry at age 12. Xzotiqa was first introduced to spoken word poetry at age 17 while in college at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. While home on summer break, Xzotiqa first performed spoken word in her hometown at age 18 and never stopped writing and performing since then.
It wasn’t until February 2006 that Xzotiqa broke out of her shell. She began performing an “unrestricted genre” she later coined as NeoFusion in October of that same year. Xzotiqa defines her genre, NeoFusion, as “a concentrated lyrical expression derived from the harmonious blending of soul, jazz, blues, rhythms, and spoken word poetry.” Xzotiqa released her debut album “Verbal X-Change” in August 2006. She believes music is life and poetry is her therapy. With every performance, Xzotiqa meditates on her quote:

"When memories cease to retain knowledge of my existence, my WORDS will live on."
